Remake Small Prada Galleria Bag: Top Tips for Smart Purchasing

Okay, so, you know how I’ve been talking about making my own bags? Well, I finally decided to try and remake that famous PRADA bag, the Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather one. It’s a classic, right?

First, I gathered all my materials. I got some Saffiano leather, which is not the real deal that PRADA uses, but it’s close enough, and much cheaper. I also needed some sturdy fabric for the lining, metal bits for the logo and feet, and, of course, a good zipper.

Getting Started

I started by drafting the pattern. I found some dimensions online and tweaked them a bit to match the size I wanted. Cutting the leather was a bit nerve-wracking, to be honest. This stuff isn’t cheap, and you don’t want to mess it up.

  • Cut out the leather pieces carefully.
  • Sew the main body pieces together. It took forever, but slow and steady wins the race, yeah?

Assembly Time

Then, I assembled the body of the bag. This involved sewing the front, back, and side pieces together. After that, I worked on the lining. I wanted something that felt a bit luxurious, so I chose a nice, silky fabric. Sewing the lining was way easier than the leather, thank goodness.

Next, I attached the handles. I had made these beforehand, carefully stitching and reinforcing them because they need to be super strong. Getting them to sit right on the bag was tricky, but I finally managed it.

Finishing Touches

The last steps were adding the zipper and the metal parts. I carefully put the PRADA logo on the front, which I got from a separate craft website – not the real logo, of course, but it looks pretty good! I also added little metal feet to the bottom of the bag to protect it.

And that’s it! My very own “PRADA” bag. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. Now I have a stylish bag that looks a bit like the real deal but didn’t cost me a fortune. Plus, I made it myself, which is pretty cool, right?

This whole project was a real learning experience. I can see why people love these designer bags. But for now, I’m happy with my homemade version. Maybe next time I’ll try a different style, or maybe even design my own! Who knows, but i will share it next time.
