So, I saw this OMEGA Speedmaster 38mm online the other day, and I just had to check it out. I’m not a watch expert or anything, but it looked pretty slick, so I decided to do a little digging to see if I could maybe, you know, “try” it out.
First things first, I needed to find some info on the watch. Turns out, the serial number and case number are usually on the warranty card or engraved on the back, or sometimes on one of those little arm thingies—the lugs, they are called. This one was first launched in 2017, so it’s been around for a bit.
After I figured that out, I started poking around for ways to maybe get a closer look without actually, well, buying it. I know there are these “magnet links” that are supposed to be better than torrent files, but I didn’t really get into the details of how they work. There is also this “Torrent Lite” thing that lets you stream torrents in your browser. Seemed promising, but I didn’t want to mess around too much with that stuff.
A few ideas later, I had a plan.
- I remembered someone mentioning this “old Reddit” thing to get the classic layout. Thought maybe I could find some useful info there.
- I also found some weird character tables with all these symbols like ┻ and ┽, but I didn’t see how that would help me.
Then I remembered hearing about a free antivirus program, AVG, on the Microsoft app store. I figured, why not? I installed it, and guess what? It started finding all sorts of junk on my computer. Not exactly what I was looking for, but hey, a clean computer is a happy computer, right?
Finally, I stumbled upon this calculator thingy online—a “Speeds and Feeds Calculator.” It’s supposed to calculate RPM and IPM values. Honestly, I have no clue what those are, but I played around with the settings a bit. Nothing really happened, but it was something to do.
In the end, I didn’t really get my hands on that OMEGA watch, but it was a fun little adventure. I learned some random stuff, cleaned up my computer, and now I know a little bit more about watches than I did before. Not bad for a lazy afternoon, I guess.
