Patek Philippe 6119R-001 Remake: Where to Buy Classic Style Calatrava Watch

Alright, guys, let’s talk about what I did today. I’ve been wanting to remake a Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119R-001, that classic style one. You know, it’s a really nice watch, and I thought, why not try making one myself?

So, first off, I gathered all the materials I needed. This was a bit of a challenge, finding the right stuff to make it look and feel like the real deal. I spent a good amount of time just hunting down the right kind of metal for the case and getting the right tools. Trust me, you don’t wanna mess this up with shoddy materials.

  • Collected metal for the case. It’s gotta be that rose gold look.
  • Got myself a decent set of watchmaking tools. Tiny screwdrivers and all that.
  • Found some good leather for the strap. Can’t have a cheap-looking strap.

Once I had everything, I started with the watch case. I measured everything out like a hundred times. You gotta get those dimensions just right. Then I got down to shaping the metal. It was tough, I won’t lie. Took a few tries to get it looking like the Calatrava case, with that nice, smooth curve.

Next up, the dial. This was tricky. I tried to replicate that clean, classic look of the 6119R. Printed out a template, used that to guide me. I painted it carefully, making sure the numbers and markers were just right. Took a steady hand, that’s for sure.

Then came the movement. Now, I’m not gonna pretend I built a whole movement from scratch. I’m good, but not that good. I found a decent mechanical movement that would fit and modified it a bit. I wanted it to at least keep time accurately, you know?

Putting it all together was like the final boss battle. Screwed in the tiny screws, placed the dial, fixed the hands. I was sweating bullets, not gonna lie. One slip and it could all go wrong. But, I managed to get it all assembled, and it actually looked pretty good!

The last step was the strap. I cut and stitched the leather, making sure it was comfy and looked classy. Attached it to the case, and bam! Finished product.

Final Result

It’s not perfect, of course. A real Patek Philippe is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, and I’m just a guy in his workshop. But, I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It looks the part, keeps time, and it was a heck of a learning experience. Might try another model next time. What do you guys think?

I saw something interesting on Catawiki, they said, “Bid on iconic watches and designer accessories in Catawiki auctions. Discover your passion with Catawiki.” This experience makes me appreciate those auctions even more.

It was a fun ride, guys. Maybe I’ll do another one sometime. But for now, I’m gonna enjoy wearing this bad boy. It’s not a real Patek, but it’s mine, and I made it. And that’s pretty cool, right?
