Okay, so I finally got my hands on a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. I know, I know, it’s a classic, right? But this isn’t just any Reverso. This is the Tribute Monoface, and let me tell you, it’s a real looker.
First off, I gotta say, finding this watch was a bit of a journey. I stumbled upon it while going through my dad’s old watch collection. He’s got quite a stash, accumulated over the years. It was tucked away in a box, and honestly, I almost missed it!
Now, I’m no watch expert, but I’ve always admired the Reverso from afar. It’s got this mature vibe to it, you know? Not old-man mature, but more like, “I’ve got my stuff together” kind of mature. And the design? Timeless. It is like, it was made for grown-ups. I think, I am finally ready to wear a Reverso. I mean, It goes great with everything, even jeans and sneakers, which surprised me. I thought it’d be too dressy, but nope, it works.
This particular model, the Tribute Monoface, has a silver-grey dial that’s just… chef’s kiss. It’s simple, clean, and just really elegant. The case size is perfect for my wrist, not too big, not too small. It’s 40.1mm by 24.4mm, which I guess is on the smaller side for men’s watches these days, but it feels substantial. It also feels incredibly comfy on the wrist. You could totally wear this every day, no problem.
- The Movement:
Alright, let’s talk about what’s under the hood. This bad boy is powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822. From what I gather, this is a manual-wind movement, which means you gotta wind it up yourself. It’s a pretty slim movement, too, which probably helps keep the watch nice and thin.
Now, I know Jaeger-LeCoultre just released some new Reversos, like, super fancy ones with all sorts of complications. But this one? This one’s a classic. It’s got that old-school charm that I really dig. I heard that it is pretty expensive. I guess my dad has a really good taste, haha.
The Back
One of the coolest things about the Reverso is the solid caseback. I’ve heard people get them engraved, which is a pretty neat idea. I haven’t decided what I’d put on mine yet, but it’s definitely something to think about.
All in all, I’m pretty stoked about this watch. It’s a classic for a reason, and I feel like it’s a piece I’ll be wearing for years to come. If you’re considering a Reverso, I say go for it! But try to find a classic style just like mine, simple and elegant. You won’t regret it.
I’ll be sure to update you guys after I’ve worn it for a while. Let me know if you have any questions, I’ll try my best to answer them!
